     在教學的過程中
     常發現許多學生看得懂英文單字卻不會念 
     或是發音錯誤
     其實背單字最重要的是要先會念單字
     且發音要正確
     如果只是依照字母順序逐字背誦
     可能背完沒多就就忘了
     以下是我整理的背單字的要訣 

     <基礎篇>

     1. 注意單字有幾個音節及其重音位置 
         ex: electronic 照音節念為 e lec tro nic
         重音在第三音節 
     2. 照音節  用發音來背單字 
     3. 多念幾次  讓單字的音能深入腦海裡 
     4. 看例句或文章學習單字的用法

     <進階篇>

     照以下方式背單字可以在短時間內擴充許多字彙量 

     1. word family 
         ex: electric (adj.) electrical (adj.) electricity (n) 

     2. collation  (搭配字)
         ex: take a vacation 
               go on a vacation 
               have a vacation 
               need a vacation 
     3. prefixes/roots/suffixes  (字首/字根/字尾) 
              ex: unhappily 
               prefix: un- 
               root: happy 
               suffix: ly 

     4. synonyms/antonyms  (同義字/反義字)
         ex: frightened   
               synonyms: scared, afraid, terrified
               antonyms: unafraid, calm, unstressed 
          
     <心得>

     單字要記得久 
     最好的方式是從文章中或例句
     歌曲或影片中來學習
     很多人背單字都是拿從 A 排到 Z 的單字書來背
     這樣的背誦方式很容易忘記 
     因為這樣學習的單字是很瑣碎的
     如果書上沒有附例句就更不了解單字的用法
     所以若能從閱讀書報雜誌的文章中來學習
     因為已經閱讀過文章且大致瞭解其內容 
     這樣背單字比較會有印象

     喜歡聽英文歌的人會因喜歡某首歌想把歌詞學起來或背起來
     喜歡看影片的人可以把演員的某句對話背起來
     用這樣的方式學英文比較有趣也比較容易加深對單字的印象

     另外圖片字典 (如 word by word) 
     或照主題單元 (ex: airport, restaurant, etc.) 安排的單字書
     也是不錯的選擇
     因為他們把單字歸類 
     這樣背單字是有連結性的 
     可以在短時間內學到很多 

     增加字彙量且發音正確有助於加強聽說讀寫各方面能力
     唯有將單字念正確才能聽得懂別人在說什麼 
     自己說話時不至於讓人誤解
     閱讀時看得懂文字的意思及上下文 
     寫作時不會辭窮
     因此增加自己的字彙量實為學好英文的重要關鍵
